1)Stated Preference Data
Car users using free of charge car parks in the Waterfront area were presented with a comparison of conditions in the case of traveling by car (parking conditions, road congestion) and in the case of using the LRT, and they were asked to choose which mode of transport they would choose. The options presented to the respondents were as follows.
(Conditions in the case of using the LRT) [Standard]
Fare: 1.5 rand/ride
Frequency of services: 3 minutes
Traveling time: Current time (car use) ±8 minutes
(Conditions in the case of traveling by car) (multiple combinations were set)
Parking charge : ?Same as now (free), ?Two rand/hour, ?Four rand/hour
Parking space wait : ?Same as now, ?Additional 10 minutes, ? Additional 20 minutes
Congestion delay : ?Same as now, ?Additional 10 minutes
2)Examination of a Transport Mode Selection Model
The following multinominal logit model was prepared based on the stated preference data.

Table 5-6 shows the results of using this model to trial calculate fluctuations in the rate of changeover to use of the LRT according to changes in the explanatory variables.
